LOCATION TARGETING

Reach a relevant area. Understand the limits.

Location targeting can help focus an advertising campaign around the communities your business serves. It is a planning tool, not a promise to identify everyone inside a precise boundary.

01

Define the service area

Start with where you can actually deliver the product or service.

02

Match the campaign

Choose the controls available for the platform and campaign category.

03

Review the evidence

Check location reporting and lead quality alongside the settings.

Radius targeting and geofencing are not interchangeable

A radius setting describes an area around a point. Geofencing is often used to describe technology or products that respond to a defined geographic boundary. The name alone does not establish the precision, data source or capabilities of an advertising product.

Plan around real customer needs

A local restaurant, contractor and regional professional service have different catchment areas. Distance, travel patterns, delivery capacity and the offer all matter. Narrower targeting is not automatically better if it excludes useful customers or leaves too small an audience.

Location signals have practical limits

Advertising platforms infer location from available signals and settings. Accuracy varies. Do not interpret a targeting boundary as proof of a person’s exact whereabouts or assume the same settings are available for every category. Google’s location-targeting guidance is one example of a platform describing those limits; Meta settings should be checked in the actual campaign.

Connect targeting with the rest of the campaign

Relevant creative and a clear destination still matter. We can help review the audience plan, message, landing experience and available measurement as part of Facebook and Instagram advertising.

Questions worth asking.

Can an ad reach every person in a building or neighborhood?

That should not be promised. Available signals, audience thresholds, settings and platform rules affect delivery.

What should we review after launch?

Check the available geographic reporting, inquiry quality, costs and whether the offer matches the people who respond. Settings alone do not prove useful business results.
